John Terence Buckle

Band Corporal

John is believed to have died of Malaria at Poemaloe (East Celebes) on 3rd September 1943 under Japanese incarceration.

John Buckle HMS Exeter 1942 I am sending this note for myself, and also for my grandmother Mary Stuttard (Buckle), in regards to information on her brother John Buckle. The only information I have, is that John was a member of the Royal Marines, a Band Corporal. He served on HMS Exeter in 1942. I have a letter from him dated 7th January 1942. Of course, he gives very little information of his whereabouts at this time, but I would like to know more. John did not survive the war, but we do not have a great deal of information in relation to his death. I would like to hear from anyone who knew John, or who has any further information in regards to the time he spent with the Royal Marines. Thanks

William John Spencer
