Back to the HMS Exeter crew list

Horace Samuel Cooper

My father's name is Horace Samuel Cooper of Maltby, Yorkshire, born on the 18th December 1919.
He served on the HMS Exeter during the South Atlantic tour which included the Battle of the Rio de la Plata in 1939. Dad lives in Long Beach, California, USA. He ended his service on the H.M.S. Exeter when she returned to home port, Portsmouth, after sustaining damage in the encounter with the Admiral Graf Spee in the South Atlantic. Happily for my beloved father, he escaped the terrible fate that the Exeter was to face when she was dispatched to help the Dutch in Indonesian waters against the Japanese.

I do not have his service number.

Thanks.
