My Great Uncle
was a veteran of the 'River Plate' battle, his name was Bill Trim.
He was a Royal Marine and served in one of the main 8" turrets. When his turret was hit he was the only unwounded survivor. He was fortunate to have been transferred from the ship before her destruction by the Japanese.
He survived the war and died in the 1980's. His widow Dorothy (Doll) still lives in the same house in Plymouth with their son (she is 102!)

He was a quiet, kind and gentle man and would, I am sure, be proud to have his name included with his shipmates.
With best wishes,
J. Furneaux.
